Applied Robotics - Robot Enclosure

Scope of Triplenine Group’s Work

Triplenine Group partnered with Applied Robotics to deliver the design, fabrication, and installation of a custom stainless steel robot enclosure at a major food manufacturing facility in Huntingwood.

The project required a robust, hygienic, and highly functional guarding system to safely enclose an automated robotic cell while maintaining operational efficiency and accessibility.

The Challenge

The key challenges included:

• Designing a guarding system suitable for a food-grade manufacturing environment

• Providing safe yet flexible access for operators, maintenance, and pallet handling

• Integrating large telescopic door systems within a confined footprint

• Delivering within a tight installation window to minimise production disruption

Our Solution

Triplenine delivered a fully customised solution featuring:

3-sided stainless steel enclosure (~10m x 4.5m)

5mm clear Perspex panels for maximum visibility and safety

1 hinged access door for personnel entry

2 telescopic (concertina) sliding doors for operational access

• Modular design for efficient installation and long-term maintainability

The enclosure was fully assembled and tested in-house prior to delivery, ensuring seamless installation and minimal site adjustments.

Execution

• Complete design and drafting based on supplied 3D models

• Precision workshop fabrication and pre-assembly

• Coordinated delivery and on-site installation

• Final alignment, adjustment, and commissioning

Installation was completed within a 2–3 day shutdown window, ensuring minimal disruption to site operations.

The Outcome

The completed enclosure delivers:

• ✅ Improved operator safety and compliance with WHS requirements

• ✅ Enhanced visibility of robotic operations

• ✅ Flexible access for maintenance and production activities

• ✅ A durable, hygienic solution suited to food manufacturing

Project Highlights

• Stainless steel, food-grade compliant construction

• Custom telescopic door system for large access openings

• Full in-house fabrication and factory testing

• Fast-track installation with minimal downtime

Conclusion

This project highlights Triplenine Group’s capability to deliver high-quality, custom-engineered guarding systems for complex industrial environments — from concept through to commissioning.
