Exotic Metal & Aluminium Welding

Specialty welding for critical materials and unusual requirements

about

While stainless steel is the most common metal used in welding projects, it’s far from the only one. Different metals – and even some grades of stainless steel - have different properties, which affect the welding process.

At Triplenine Group, our expertise with exotic metal welding includes:

  • Duplex stainless steel, which is resistant to corrosion and is used in offshore installations, desalination plants and for storage of corrosive materials. Overheating can destroy that anti-corrosive quality the material is selected for, so care in the welding process is essential

  • Hastelloy is a trademarked name for a family of corrosion-resistant metal alloys primarily made from nickel, with varying amounts of molybdenum, iron, cobalt, and chromium. These alloys are part of the broader nickel-based superalloy category and are widely used in extremely harsh chemical environments.|

  • Copper, which is used in brewing since it removes sulphur compounds, leading to a cleaner taste. Copper is an excellent conductor, which makes it more difficult to maintain heat at the weld point and ensure a strong join. This is even more of a challenge when brewing processes add the need for strength under pressure.

  • Aluminium, which may be chosen for projects since it is lightweight and resistant to corrosion. It’s also highly conductive, so heat dissipates quickly; has a low melting point close to the weld temperature, and is usually covered by an oxide layer with a much higher melting point. For robust aluminium welding, it’s vital to keep temperature within a narrow window through the entire process.

Projects where Triplenine Group has applied exotic metal and aluminium welding capability include:

  • Work on desalination plants using duplex stainless steel, including numerous pipe spooling projects for Sydney Water

  • Adjustments to copper stills and vessels for brewery projects, including addition of extra nozzles, or of heating/cooling jackets,

  • Various workshop fabrication projects

When performance matters, material selection and weld quality are critical.

Triplenine Group specialises in exotic alloy welding and high-performance fabrication, working with materials such as titanium, duplex stainless, Hastelloy, and Inconel for demanding applications.

We understand the challenges these materials present—heat control, contamination risk, and weld integrity—and deliver consistent results through proven procedures, skilled trades, and strict QA.

What You Can Expect:
  • Qualified welding procedures (WPS/PQR)

  • High-purity, full penetration welds

  • Complete fabrication, installation, and QA

  • Reliable delivery across complex projects

Supporting industries including pharmaceutical, water, food & beverage, specialty gases, and data centres, we deliver solutions where failure isn’t an option.

Where precision welding delivers trusted results.
