CCEP Northmead CIP System Upgrade
Scope of Triplenine Group’s Work
CCEP Northmead CIP System Upgrade
Modular CIP Skid Fabrication, Installation & Integration
Project Overview
Triplenine Group was engaged to deliver the mechanical installation and full integration of a new Clean-In-Place (CIP) system at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners’ (CCEP) Northmead facility in NSW.
The project combined off-site modular fabrication with on-site installation and complex plant integration, enabling a high-quality outcome while minimising disruption to live production operations.
The scope was executed in accordance with detailed mechanical specifications outlined in the project SOW documents.
Modular Fabrication Approach
A key success factor for this project was the adoption of a fully modular fabrication strategy, allowing the system to be built, assembled, and tested in a controlled workshop environment prior to delivery.
The CIP skid was fabricated in three primary modules:
Lower Module – Supply Manifold
Complete with CIP supply pumps, valves, and associated pipework
Upper Module – Return Manifold
Integrated return lines, instrumentation, and control interfaces
End Module – CIP & Buffer Tanks
Including 3 x CIP tanks and 3 x buffer tanks with associated connections
The entire system was fully assembled, aligned, and quality checked in our workshop, ensuring:
Reduced installation risk on site
Improved weld quality and consistency
Streamlined commissioning and tie-in activities
Following completion, the modules were transported to site and installed as a complete system, significantly reducing site labour and programme duration.
Scope of Works
CIP Skid Installation
The project included the installation of:
3 x CIP tanks (2 x 13,000L and 1 x 6,700L)
3 x buffer tanks (600L each)
CIP pumps, heat exchangers, and instrumentation
Fabrication and installation of CIP supply and return loops
Installation of hygienic stainless steel piping and valve systems
All pipework was designed and installed to hygienic standards (AS1528), ensuring full cleanability and compliance with food and beverage requirements .
System Integration & Plant Tie-Ins
Triplenine delivered full integration of the CIP system into the existing plant, including:
Tie-ins to treated water, hot water, caustic, and chemical dosing systems
Installation of CIP supply and return lines to multiple production areas
Integration with existing CIP systems and processing lines
Connection to trade waste and compressed air systems
Additionally, existing concentrate mixing tanks were modified to enable CIP cleaning through the installation of spray balls and associated piping systems .
Engineering & Execution Challenges
Live Operational Environment
Installation completed within a fully operational production facility
Works coordinated around critical shutdown windows
Daily coordination with CCEP and multiple contractors
Complex Integration Requirements
Multiple tie-in points (TIPs) across services and process systems
Integration with existing and legacy CIP infrastructure
Maintaining production continuity while upgrading plant capability
Hygienic & Quality Demands
Strict compliance with hygienic design principles (no dead legs)
High-spec argon-purged stainless welding procedures
Full inspection and testing regime
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Triplenine implemented a comprehensive QA framework including:
Workshop pre-assembly and verification of all modules
Argon-purged welding with documented procedures
Hydrostatic pressure testing of all pipework
Cleaning and passivation of product-contact surfaces
Compliance with Australian Standards and CCEP specifications
Inspection regimes included weld verification and testing in line with project requirements .
